Here’s what Chris Boulton, himself, said on his blog, in regards to LiteBulletin

When we relaunched MyBB under the GNU GPL license (open source), we did so to help out the open source community and to hopefully see something new and original. We also did so as we believed we’d receive some valuable contributions back to the MyBB community. We didn’t release MyBB under the GNU GPL so people would take MyBB, and turn it in to cheap clone of a competitors product. Whilst there’s technically nothing wrong or illegal doing so, it’s disappointing to see.

LiteSoft are developing LiteBulletin, a direct clone of the vBulletin user interface plastered directly on top of MyBB with the addition of vBulletin’s recently developed social networking features (social profiles, comments, etc). Of course, LiteSoft did this and at the same time vBulletin caught up with them as (I’ve heard) they were using actual images from vBulletin itself. They’ve now changed the infringing material.

This is turning into more of a Soap Opera, isn’t it.

It’s time for Christmas! Here is LiteBulletin 1.0 (Beta 1)

The whole team around LiteSoft is proud to finally release the first version of LiteBulletin. We promised you so often to release it much earlier but the work on it was more than I thought at the beginnnig as I had to go deep in the source code of MyBB to understand everything completely (to answer your support questions later on). Today’s the day we can say that the biggest things has been changed and that we are now seraching for bugs to be fixed. Of course Beta 1 is not bugless (personally I think it has too much for a public release but we didn’t want you to wait any longer) that’s why it is a beta and not final. After the beta tests, we present you release candidates (RCs) which are possbile fully working stable versions of LiteBulletin. After that we can finally release LiteBulletin 1.0.

I’m glad that LiteBulletin beta has been released. People are now able to download the software, and use a on a live installation. The current version is pretty buggy, but it’s a process nonetheless. You can download the full beta here:

B.) Looking for a software that compares to Vbulletin, for free.

Well the search can be over know people, with the new LiteBulletin. LiteBulletin is a brand new forum software, originally based off of Mybb, and redesigned to look like Vbulletin thanks toLiteSoft.

There are many nice features that LiteBulletin has to offer, they are:

• vBulletin styled templates
  vBulletin styled theme
  vBulletin like drop downs
  Social Profiles (Visitor messaging, visitors in profile, etc)

Everything about this new forum software is great. Currently, a beta has not been released to the public. Only a handful of individuals, selected to become beta testers, have been able to test out the software. LiteBulletin was supposed to be released by Christmas, now stands to be released before 2009 ends. We’ll keep you updated on this new forum software

Here’s a simple little tutorial for you all. It allows you the webmaster to redirect your visitor to another webpage. You can add this to any page that can read javascript.

I was browsing through Myspace (my favorite site :P) and saw a link to a “wannbe myspace” site. I clicked the link, and it happened to take me to a site called CompleteThoughts. At first, I thought the site was a complete waste of time, but as I looked into it, it didn’t look half bad. CompleteThoughts is basically a community of people coming together, and discussing a large variety of interesting topics. It seemed boring at first, but after registering and joining in on a couple of conversations, I think I’m addicted. You can also login with your facebook account if you want to. Well I was searching around on the internet, trying to find out which site had the best Mybb Plugins, and to my surprise I found a large list of sites.  Some of whom didn’t provide the plugin I wanted, and others required you to pay.  Since I was in a money crunch, paying was not an option.  I was lucky enough to run into a site called Mybbsource.com .  They offered a large variety of mybb plugins.  The downside is you have to make around 5 or so posts to be able download those mods.  5 posts isn’t really that much, and it took me like 5 mns to complete.  One of my favorite mods there is called custom pages, which allows you to create your own pages inside of your mybb forum.  I also like Mycredits, and Myads as well.  If you haven’t visited this site yet, and are need of some mybb mods, then go there today
